It is reported that subtle forces are at work to agitate a general boycott of Hong- kong..

In view of the threatening attitude of the Chinese people, the vernacular press urge that Gov, Stubbs should take steps for the demissal of the official or officials who were respon- sible for the issuance of the two proclamations, so that the friendly relations between the British and Chinese should not be strained.
