At the Treasury conference Trade Union representatives and Govern ment employees rejected the Government proposal to work shorter hours if they carried a proportionally reduced wage, on the ground that a smaller wage would not provide a reasonable living standard for the employees. BERLIN, January 11. The first three cases of war criminals were tried in the specially
allocated Imperial Court
Leipzig. The accused did not include any in
the Allies extradition lists, but were offenders who had been brought to the knowledge of the court. The accused, ex-engineers, were convicted of plundering an inn at the Belgian hamlet of Edingen in October of 1918, and sentenced to five, and four years' penal servitude and two years' imprisonment, respectively.
