Mr. Charles George Stephens, Bristol hairdresser, is making a rangements to try and shoot the Niagara Falls in a barrel He has booked his passage from Liverpool for Quebec on June 18 and Intends to make the attempt at the end of June or early in July.

THE TOUR IN INDIA.
Ccutta, May 1st.-The English man learns that the Committee which has been appointed to draw up a scheme for the tour of H. R. H. the Prince of Wales in India has received certain suggestions from Home on the subject. and has already ad opted a rough provisional programme. The Prince will arrive in Bombay an the 20th December, and after receiv ing an address from the Corporation The barrel is being made to Mr.will go straight on to Delhi, where Stephers's specification by Mesers David Roberts and Son, the coopers, of Tottenham, Mr. Stephens, who is 56 years of age, and married, is 5ft Shin. in height, and the barrel will be 6ft 2in.. high, and its diameter at the top and bottom will be 26 inches. and In the middle 32 inches. It is to be fitted with special appliances at a cost of £24.

The Prince is expected to arrive in Calcutta on the 17th January, 1921. and will not be here for more than a few days. The public functions at which he will be present will, there- fore, be very few in number. They will include, however, the public arriva and the address by the Calcutta Corporation, the visit to the races, the cpening of the Victoria Memorial and either a ball or a leves. It is still an open question whether there are to be any big reviews, but the Prince would undoubtedly like to see something of the Indian Army.
It has not been definitely decided whether the Prince is to visit Burma or not, but in any case the remaining two months of the tour are to be mainly devoted to sport and to travel in such parts of India as will illustrate the amazing diversity of the physical characteristics and races of this country..

Crossings of the rapids by boats have been made by Captain Nissen, who got over in a vessel named "The Fool Killer" Later he made another crossing in a small steamer. Blondin's feat on the tight rope is still remem bered.
