FRANCE WOULD HOLD RHINE,
PARIS, May 29,.
M. Millerand spoke in the Chamber yesterday on the Lympne con ference. He had been urged by previous speakers, socialists and conserva- tives; to, guard jealously the French right to reparations in full and only This be to grant concessions in exchange for very material guarantees.. promised to do, while at the same time he asked for the government a vote of confidence which would enable them to negotiate at Spa and beforehand with free hands. STEAMSHIP CONTRACT CASE.
Before Mr. H. H. J. Gompertz, Acting Chief Justice, was reopened to-day the suit of Wong Lan Sang and Chan Tso Hong of Hongkong, plaints. vs. Fong. Yuen Chau, Swaow defendant.'
and
Messrs. Eldon Potter and F. C. Jenkin (instructed by Mr. J. R. Hay ward) represented plaintiffs. Messrs. W. H. Drummond and R. E Belilios, appeared for defendant.
The statement of claim, as made in previous hearing, was to the effect that plaintifs are merchants in Hong kong and owners of a steamship called the Kung Hong." trading by
license
between Hongkong and Swatow. By agreement in writing dated 10th of January, 1949, one Chan Tso Hing, alias Chan Tse. us agent for plaintifs agreed to sell the seanies to defendant,, with the licence. Defendant for the sum of $76,000.
failed to carry our the contract and thereby plaintiff suffered damage t the extent of $21.547.60, includirg the difference between the contract price and the price at which the steamer was ulámately sold to another party, amounting to $12,000. and in- cluding the charter money, the ship for about 24 having been laid up months, causing additional loss.
Judgment was given in this suit on the 8th December. 1919. before His Honour Sir WUHam Rees-Davies, in the sum of $19,547,60, on account of defendant not appearing at that time to defend his case.

FORD FIGURES.
The enormous popularity of the Ford brand of motor cars, as a car for Everyman, in America, due to its by the percentage of Fords in use in low price and honest build, is proved that country. In one state, Montana, out of 11,450 cars of all makes registered, 5,790 are Fords, and out of more than 6,000,000 motor cars in operation in the United States, it is said that more than half of these are Fords.
On the 15th of December, in the year 1915, The Ford Company cast the ore millionth Ford Model "T" Motor, which is utilized to furnish power to the Ford cars. To illustrate the correctness of the design, the model cast as the Millionth differed not a hair's breadth of change from the original casting. By the early of April of 1919, the part number of these moters cast had with the risen to three million, slightest change in design. This company is said to have been behlad 100,000 cars on orders for immediate delivery each day for the past three years. The output at present is in excess of 3,000 cars per day.
The Hongkong agents for Fords- are Messrs. Alex Ross & Co.
