AMERICAN OPINION WANTED.

WASHINGTON, April 8. The French Ambassador has presented Mr. Colby a note from the French Government, requesting the American Goverment to express an opinion on the French occupation of German towns. Its officially stated that no statement is likely to be made, but it is generally understood that America has no objection to German troops entering Ruhr, provided that they are withdrawn as soon as normal conditions have been restored..

SINN FEIN'S RECORD.

LONDON, April 8. An official return of Sinn Fei outrages in Ireland from January 1, 1919 to March 29 last, shows that the outrages totalled 1079, whereof 588 were in Munster, 269 in Leinster, 137 in Connaught and 95 in Ulster. The outrages include 36 murders, whereof five were civilians, 81 cases of firing at the person, namely 55 at police, 12 at military, and 14 at civilians, 52 'assaults, 426 raids with arms, whereof 389 were on civilians, 47 incendiary fires, 54 firing into dwellings, namely 24 police and 30 civilians.

The Treasury is shortly offering to purchase certain American dollar securities. Lists of the securities affected and the prices offered will be exhibited on the Stock Exchanges. The step is part of the Treasury's preparations for paying off the British portion of the Anglo-French loan maturing in Autumn.
