PARIS, April 8.
Loupon, April 8th.
An authoritative statement about the military situation describes the situation in the Bahr region as still disturbed, bat details of recent happenings are obscure.
After relating the circumstances leading to the French occupation of German lies, it refers to the repeated German Govern meat's assertion Sahat, the anarchie con di- fichs in the district are threatening the whole of Germany, with starration and immediate restoration of order by troops economia disaster, and call entering the central zone.

FORESHADOWED.
Behind the fact, announced by our New York shipping correspondent in a message. printed below (says the "Daily Mail") that the Cunard Line is including Hamburg as a port of call lies evidence of the tremendous effort now being made by British shipowners to bid for the world's carrying trade. The message is as follows:
"I am informed of a remarkable extension of British shipping enter. prise, designed to take from the Ger- mans their former great undertakings in carrying emigrants, and products between Central Europe and America, via Hamburg and New York...
"Hitherto this trade has been a State-subsidised monopoly of the Ger man and Austrian shipping come panies, against which American and British shipowners have had small chance of competing on account of out freights and passages and the low wages scale paid in the German boats,
The first British company in the field, I learn on the best authority, is the Cunard Line, which is negotiat ing to buy large docking space and sheds at Hamburg formerly owned gether with an hotel by the Hamburg-America Line, to

The Defence Minister stated that if it was in any way possible the troops would be withdrawn from Ruhr in two days.
