COMPANY REPORTS.

UNION INSURANOF 800IETY OF CANTON, LTD.

The report for presentation to the shareholders at the forty-sixth ordinary meeting of the Union Insurance Society of Canton Ltd., to be held at noon on Thursday, 22nd May, 1919, states:

The Board has new to lay before the Shareholders a Balance Sheet | containing a summary of the property and liabilities of the Society on the 31st December, 1918, and a statement of Working. Accounts together with sterling equivalents.

1917 Account-After payment of the interim dividend of $30 per share and the bonus of 20% to Contributors passed at the last annual meeting there remains a balance of $3,315,645.96 as per annexed statement.

The Board recommends that this sum be appropriated as follows A final dividend to shareholders of $20 per share

1918 Account. The Balance of Working Account on the 31st Decem- ber, 1918, was $6,239,222.94 as per annexed statement.

The Board recommends that an interim dividend of $30 per share be paid to shareholders, absorbing $450,000.00 and that a bonus of 20% be paid to contributors, absorbing about $250,000.00, and that the remainder be, carried forward.

Directors. Since the last General Meeting Mr. G. T. Edkins “has resigned his seat on leaving the Colony and Mr. R. Ross: Thomson of Mesars. Butterfield & Swire has joined the Board. In accordance with Clause 80 of the Articles of Association Mr. A. O. Lang and Mr. J. A Plummer retire, but offer themselves for re-election.
