ALLIGED EMBⱭZZLEMENT.

Loung Tik Kwong, alias Leung Tea Ching, was charged before Mr. Lindsell at the Police Court this afternoon" with embezzling $1560 received by him on behalf of the Wing Cheong Sing firm.

Mr. F. C. Jenkin appeared for the com plainant and Mr. Eld. Potter instructed by Mr W.E.L. Shenton, for the defendant.

Mr. Jenkin said that about Dec., 31, 1012, when the defendant was a member of the firm, there was forwarded through the On Yue Back a sum of 81500 from a party in Canton. To money was in fact handed to the, firm and the bank book was marked with the money rocoired chop. The defendant received this money but failed to account for it here was at present pending an action in the Supreme Court, in which present defendant was the plaintiff, bringing an action against. two or three other poople, some of whom he (Mr. Jenkin) recognised as being his witnesses in the present case. In an affidavit filed by the present defendant in that civil case he said that the money was received by a mana med Tam Tat, Chiu. He did not know anything about it. The prosecution would call evidence later to prove that the man Tam Tat Chiu was not only not the accountant but had nothing to do with the firm. There would also be evidence to how that defendant was actual- ly the man who kept the books and received

A limited number of Army pattern boots and Army socks is. available for purchase. Cost, boots about $8.00 per pair and socks about 50 cents per pair. Members requiring either of these articles must apply to the Orderly Room in writ- ing, stating size, as soon as possible. As the number of boots and socks avail able is limited, early application is essential. Applications will be dealt with in the order in which they are received.
