FAMINE IN RUSSIA.

St. Petersburg telegrams state that the horrors of the famine of 1891 are recurring at Orenburg, in the Turgai province. The famine stricken people are flocking into the town, asking for the administration of the last communion.

The crops at Drenburg are 30 per cent below the average this year. The Bishopof Cheliabinsk is proceeding to the assistance of the starving people.

An extraordinary feature of the famine is

that the medical and charitable societies

have been prohibited from aiding the stricken people.
