BRUSH WITH PIRATES. REPORTED FIGHTING

AT MACAO.

Alarming Details.

Very storming nows came to hand frem Macae. this afternocu, where the parents of several boys, who were detained by pirates. karo arrived from Custon to confer with the authorities in Macag with regard to the liberation of their sorts. Ihappens that the pirates have given them two weeks to race the lids on payment of a ransom of $33,000, isiling which they are to be "decapitated.

His Excellency the Gercor of Macno took immediata stups to investigate mit tor and it was brought to his noties that the pirates were located in the island of Culowan. His Excellency thereupon inqued instructions and soins sisty men of the Infantry Company with field gun wole despatched on the 12th instam sid soon after their arrival, the pirates, numbering about three hundred opened fire on the soldiers, A force bombardment on

four of the soldiers have been wounded, two very suriously.

The gamboat Macau was also immediate ly ordered to the scene and quickly' had e whole of her guns directed on the position aken up by the pirates,

It is believed that very large number of the pirates have been killed and at the present time the webdiers are still pursuing ther.
