A "MURDERED" CHINAMAN.

A Johanucsburg correspondent states that a Chinsman who committed suicide because he had applied for registration under the Asiatic Law, which requires, among other things, finger-prints to be taken, wrote a letter before his donth to the chairman of the Chinese Association' which is fighting the Act. To declared that whon, ho applied ho did not under- stand the degradation involved, adding: "I found that I would be treated as a slave, which would be a disgrace to myself and my nation. I was not aware of all this before. Now it is too late. I cannot look my country in the face. I hope all my countrymen will taken warning by my error,"

The chairman of the Chinese Association dectures in forwarding this letter to the Prean: "I deliberately charge the Trans- vaal Government with the murder of an innocent man, and this only because he was an Asintio. The Asiatic Act has already begun to tell upon us matorially; it now exacts our blool."
