SIR,-I beg to draw your attention to a shocking experience which bofel a lady in the principal street of Hongkong a few days ago. She was sitting in a rickshs with a child upon her knees, and whilst the vehicle was being drawn slowly through the crowd, so as to avoid hurting anyone, coolie stepped up and deliberately spat in strau or in her face. 4. If so, what is the estimated extra time and cost?

The tide table given helow has been compiled at the Nautical Almanac Office
n London from the result of the analysis
of observations taken by means of an au. tomatic tide-recording machine in the WA- ter Police Basin at Tsim Sha Tsui during the years 1887-8-9.
The zero of the table corresponds with the zero of the soundings in the Admiralty Charts which has been found to be 4 feet 3 inches below mean sea level.
