One of the most absurd of these rumours is one that the credit of China has been injured by the sp- parent success of Japan and the pros- pect of internal disturbance in China. It might readily enough be admitted. that war baa always a tendency to lessen the credit of a belligerent country. All these rumours, we have good reason for stating, are entirely preca ture. Thero is not the slightest ground in fact for the fears that have been ex- pressed.
