Witness: Yes, the steam usually rises to 21 or 22 lbs, when getting into harbour, I have been a fireman for about 10 years, I did not think it unusual when I saw 22 Iba, indicated. The firemen are sometimes told to let off the steam....I have done so, but I always got orders first. The engineer was on the starboard side of the ship when the accident happened; I was on the port aide. The steam came in with a sudden rush. Dr P. B. Arges, Colonial Surgeon, sworn said: It was reported to me that the Teaso's boiler had blown up, and there were a number of wounded man being brought to the hospital, I went to the Hospital and found a number of men suffering from scalds Surgeon Moalles, of E.M.S Vigi lant, was attending to them. Bevozal surgeons from the Naval Hospital shortly: afterwords came and lent their assistance. The inspector shortly afterwards came and reported there were no more man to come. There was no-accommodation for the men in the Civil Hospital, so I ordered a room in the Gaol to be prepared for them, and told the Inspector to get some coolies and have the injured men removed to that place, after their wounds had been dressed. They were all removed to the Gaol by 11 o'clock. Two died shortly after their admission to the Hospital. Sixty were taken to the Gaol

The facts of the ease were briefly these, The prosecutor was a Gun Lascar, and the prisoner a cook employed in the Barracks at Wanchal. On the 28th October last the precutor was in the cook-house when the prisoner salted him to give him 20 cents He refused to do so, when the prisoner saatched the dollar note from him, At that time he thought it was only a joke, but afterwards when he moved the prisoner about the money, he denied that he had ever taken it. He was then given into enstody and searchod, but no money was found on him. S
