MACHINERY AND ENGINES.

Imports totalled 80.1 millions as compared with $6.7 millions, and exports $9.9 millions as com- pared with $7.4 millions.

MANURES.

Imports totalled $8.9 millions as compared with $3.4 millions, and exports $10.2 millions as com- pared with 84.9 millions.

Imports of Sulphate of Ammonia increased from 612,000 piculs ($3.2 millions) to 1.4 million piculs (58.6 millions), and exports from 747,000 piculs ($4.4 millions) to 1.4 million piculs ($9.6 millions), chiefly for the China market.

METALS.

Imports totalled $41.0 millions as compared with $32.8 millions, and exports $37.0 millions as compared with $28.7 millions.

Imports of Iron and Steel Bars decreased in quantity but increased in value, totalling 700,000 preuls ($4.1 millions) as compared with 944,000 pieuls (84.0 millions). There were decreased imports from all countries with the exception of Japan. Imports from the United Kingdon decreased from 78,000 piculs to 44,000 piculs: Belgium from 529,000 piculs to 385,000 piculs; France from 103,000 piculs to 44,000 piculs; and Germany from 180,000 pieuls to 68,000 piculs. Practically all the exports went to China and Maeno.

Imports of Wire Nails decreased from 29,000 piculs ($174,000) to 24,000 piculs ($203,000), maiuly on account of decreased imports from Belgium. Imports from Japan increased from 17,000 piculs to 22,000 piculs.

Imports of Tank Plates increased from 41,381 piculs ($187,000) to 56,630 piculs ($442,000). Im- ports from the United Kingdom increased from 7,000 piculs to 23,000 piculs, whilst the Belgian figure decreased from 16,000 piculs to 7,000 piculs.

Imports of Bruss Sheets increased from 22,035 piculs (#686,000) to 20,184 piculs ($1.2 millions): practically all from Japau.

Imports of Galvanized Wire increased from 57,136 piculs ($349,00m) to 64,245 piculs ($506,000), there being increased imports from Germany and Japan.

Imports of Scrap Iron and Steel decreased from 207,000 piculs ($568,000) to 149,000 piculs ($510,000), whilst exports increased from 336,000 piculs ($905,000) to 497,000 piculs ($1,5 millions): the bulk of the export going to Japan and South China.

Imporis of Tinplates increased from 195,000 piculs ($2.5 millions) to 219,000 piculs ($4.0 millions). The quantity received from the United Kingdom decreased from 74,000 piculs to 70,000 piculs, whilst the share of the U.S.A. increased from 91,000 piculs to 134,000 piculs.

Imports of China Tin Slabs increased from 135,000 piculs ($16.6 millions) to 142,000 piculs ($20 ? millions), and exports from 138,000 piculs ($18.1 millions) to 141,000 pieuls (828.7 millions): the bulk of the export going to U.S.A.

MINERALS AND ORES.

Imports totalled $2.8 millions as compared with $2.2 millions, and exports $8.5 millions as compared with $2.8 millions

Imports of Wolframite decreased in quantity but prices were higher, amounting to 28,000 piculs source of ($2.1 millions) as compared with 39,000 piculs ($2.0 millions). South China was the chief supply.

NUTS AND SEEDS.

Imports tatalled $6.6 millions as compared with $5.1 millions, and exports $4.0 millions as compared with $3.4 millions.

Imports of Nuts totalled 283,000 piculs ($3.0 millions) as compared with 320,000 piculs ($2.4 millions), and Seeds 142,000 piculs ($2.9 millions) as compared with 130,000 piculs ($1.9 millions). Imports of Pepper totalled 34,167 picula ($686,0) as compared with 40.052 pieuls ($854,000).
