There was an increase in imports of Bacon, Ham and Beef, and a slight decrease in imports of

Mutton.

Imports of Live Poultry increased from 3.0 million head to 3.1 million head, but decreased in value from $2.4 millious to $2.1 millions.

Imports of Sugar (all grades) amounted to 2.6 million piculs ($9.7 millions) as compared with 3.9 million piculs ($19.2 millions).

Imports of Fruits increased from 602,915 piculs ($4.2 millions) to 707,154 piculs ($4.2 millions); increased imports being recorded from North, South and Middle China, Japan, the Philippine Islands and U.S.A.

Imports of Fresh Eggs were valued at $2.4 millions as compared with the same figure in the previous year.

Exports of locally Preserved Ginger amounted to $1,665,000.

Imports of Condensed Milk amounted to a value of $2.1 millions as compared with $2.5 millions. Imports from Holland declined from $2.3 millions to $1.6 millions, whilst imports from Japan increased from $12,804 to $109,090, and U.S.A. from $100,326 to $196,971.

Imports of Tea amounted to $2.7 millions as compared with $3.1 millions. and exports $2.3 millions as compared with $2.9 millions. Imports froin China decreased whilst imports from Ceylon increased.

Imports of Vermicelli fell from $3.0 millions to $2.4 millions, and exports from $2.9 millions to $2.5 millions.

FUELS.

Imports totalled $10.6 millions as compared with $11.5 millions, and exports $781,000 as compared with $1.1 millions.

Imports of Charcoal increased from 260,000 piculs to 268.000 piculs, but decreased in value from $582,000 to $515,000. There were increased imports from Siam.

Imports of Bituminous Coal increased from 699,000 tons ($8.3 millions) to 750,000 tons ($7.6 millions). Imports from South Africa increased from 8,385 tons ($114.640) to 28,826 tons ($275,8941; Japan from 478,740 tons ($5.8 millions) to 556,760 tons ($5.7 millions); Netherlands East Indies from 8,080 tons ($111.817) to 20,373 tons ($220,104); whilst imports from North China decreased from 151.668 tons ($1.7 millions) to 101,509 tons (81.1 millions). Exports to South China amounted to 23,113 tons ($286,495) as compared with 38,685 tons ($556,062).

Imports of Firewood remained approximately the same at 2.5 million piculs ($1.6 millions). but the share of British North Borneo increased from 377,050 piculs ($285,345) to 636,463 pieuls ($374,688).

HARDWARE.

Imports totalled $2.7 millions as compared with $2.9 millions, and exports to $2.0 millions, as com- pared with $2.1 millious.

Imports of Cutlery and Electroplated Ware declined from $344,413 to $416,552, the share of the United Kingdom falling from $94,478 to $66,144, whilst the share of Germany increased from $58,580 to $70,759, and U.S.A. from $19,162 to $35,942

Imports of Enamelware slightly decreased froin $269,777 to $263,468, but there were increased imports recorded from North China and Japan.

Imports of Sewing Machines increased from $135,058 to $182.827, and exports from $180,728 to $181,787. Imports from Germany increased from $14.253 to $22,864.

LIQUORS (INTOXICATING).

Imports totalled $2.9 millions as compared with $3.9 millions, and exports $761,000 as compared with $1.2 millions.

Imports of Malt Liquors increased from 306,001 gallons ($870,581) to 410,202 gallous ($775,099). The United Kingdom share of this trade decreased from 199,969 gallons ($555.396) to 191.349 gallons ($408.305); whilst imports from British Malaya increased from 18,380 gallons ($45.508) to 51.200 gallons (8104.617), Japan from 113,572 gallons ($168,848) to 126.010 gallons ($161,441), and Germany from 12,952 gallons ($17,686) to 20,518 gallons ($61,779).

Imports of Spirits (Brandy, Gin, Rum, and Whisky, decreased from 99,418 gallons ($1.5 millions) to 95.071 gullous ($1.1 millions). Imports from the United Kingdom declined from 70.690 gallons ($1.1 millions) to 66.906 gallons ($800,910).

Imports of Fines declined from 34,181 gallons ($385,297) to 31.178 gallons ($260.862). Imports from France declined from 13,681 gallons ($181,307) to 8.983 gallons ($101,070).

Imports of Native Liquors decreased from 323,850 gallons ($885,808) to 265,702 gallons ($512,086). There were decreases in imports from North and South China, and Macao.
