Enamelware imports fell from $611,000 to $375,000, mainly due to the recession in the Japanese figure from $291,000 to $13.000.

Imports of Fire Extinguishers dropped from $51,000 to $33,000.

Sewing Machines noticeably increased from $512,000 to $843,000.

Tinuare imports dropped from $129,000 to $85,000 on account of increased activity of local tinsmiths' shops, while Hand Tools increased from $593,000 to $691,000,

LIQUORS (INTOXICATING).

Total imports amounted to $3.7 millions as against $4.6 millions, and exports $1.0 million as against $1.5 million.

Malt Liquors fell from 426,581 gallons ($1.4 millions) to 380,439 gallons, ($1.2 millions); Spirits from 77,397 gallons (1,6 millions) to 76,036 gallons ($1.3 millions); Native Liquors from 375,511 gallons ($632,000) to 216,512 gallons ($107,000). Spirits of Wine rose from 450,978 gallons to 510,977 gallons, but declined in value from $449,000 to $434,000.

MACHINERY AND ENGINES.

Total imports amounted to $6.1 millions as compared with $9.2 millions, and exports to $1.6 millions as compared with $2.2 millions.

Electric Generating Machinery fell from $2.1 millions to $1.2 milhons; Industrial Machinery from $2.0 millions to $1.3 millions; Pumping Machinery from $317.000 to $279,000; Ships' Machinery from $303,000 to $187,000.

MANURES

Total imports amounted to $11.0 millions as against $13.4 millions, and exports $11.0 millions as against $16.3 millions.

Sulphate of Ammonia decreased from 1,149,343 piculs ($12.9 millions) to 1,397.436 piculs ($10.7 millions), Great Britain and Germany losing the major portion of the difference,

U. while the Japanese figure fell from 35,000 piculs to 3,000 piculs. Holland and . S. A. increased their share of this import trade.

In regard to exports, both South and Middle China took approximately the same quan- tities as in 1931, but the export from Hong Kong to Japan, which in 1931 amounted to 485,563 piculs, was entirely eliminated in 1932.

METALS.

Total imports of Metals amounted to $38,5 millions as compared with $44.6 millions, and exports $30.2 millions as compared with $34 6 millions.

Imports of Iron and Steel Bars increased from 1.1 million piculs to 1.4 million piculs, but values fell from $6.8 millions to $6.2 millious. Belgium inereased her share from 909.000 piculs to 1,124,000 piculs at a decreased price, and France from 24,000 piculs to 140,000 piculs. Germany, Great Britain, Holland and Japan showed declines,

Wire Nails fell from 98,234 piculs ($1,055,000) to 56,982 piculs ($459,00M). Imports of Brass Sheets fell from 30.225 piculs ($1,728,000) to 8,562 pieuls (8408,000) on account of the Japanese boycott, the British share of the trade increasing from 795 to 1.875 piculs.

Britain.

Tinplate imports advanced slightly to 225,416 pieuls ($4,252,000), mainly from fireat

Tinslab imports dropped 10,000 piculs to 122,779 pieuls (§ 13,364,000), arriving chiefly from Yunnan.
