Justice, as distinguished from imprisonment for safe custody, &e.

I.—If the Prison is on a separate system, is the separation complete ? And, if not, what is the separas tion enforced by day and night respertively?

IV-Taking the average number of prisoners in Gool, how many cubic feet of space are there for eacli prisoner during the hours of sleep?
V-How are the prisoners classified ?
The Victoria Gual is nearly on the separate system. The Branch Prison at Lai Chi Kok is pat on the separate system. Prisoners work and sleep in asso-
ciation.
Victoria Gaol :— -All cell doors are provided with inspection holes through which the prisoners can be seen by the officers patrolling the wards. While at labour or exercise the prisoners are at all times under the immediate supervision of Principal Warders, Warders, and Assistant Wanders, At Lai Chi Kok Branela Prison, officers patrol behind grilles at night.
Victoria Guol:— 655 cells on the separate system, 12 associated vells, and 1 condemned cell.
Lai Chi Kok:- 4 Halls—each Hall en accom- modate 50 prisoners.
