On 8 months half-pay leave from 28th March to 12th January, 1920. Mr. G. N. Orme acted as Director of Education from 29th March to 6th August, and drew half initial salary of Director of Education and half initial salary of District Officer from 29th June to 6th August and drew half duty pay from 29th March to 6th May and full duty pay from 7th May to 6th August. Drew a fee of $25 for each examination of a Straits or Federated Malay States Cadet.

(2) From 21st February to 6th May received $75 per mensem for performing routine duties of Director of Education until acted as Director of Education from 7th August to 31st December and drew half initial salary and half duty pay of Director of Education and half initial salary of Inspector of English Schools.
