4. The annual competition for Indians and Chinese was held on the evenings of the 11th and 12th inst. A list of the candidates, with the marks attained in each subject, is appended to this Report,

5. I have made monthly inspections of the Water Police Station during the year. The men have made good progress.

They read with fluency and translate with readiness, a state of affairs which reflects highly on Mr. WONG CHING, the Master in charge.
