(c) Mr J. M. d'Almada e Castro entered Her Majesty's Service in the office of the Chief Superintendent of British Trade in China, on the 1 January 1841, and was appointed by Sir Henry Pottinger, Bart., on the 10 July 1843, to the situation of 3rd Clerk in the Colonial Secretary's office.
