North, on 26 September 1858 in the British Ship Alert.-

The Aleit was wrecked on the Coast of Formosa, and Mr Groom was detained in baptivity until the 10 December, when he was sent to the port of A may on the mainland of China, and thence reached Hongthong on the 20%

month.
