I HAVE the honour to transmit to your Lordship the Blue Book of this Colony for the year 1849.

1. The revenue for the year 1849 amounted to 23,617l. 3s. 3d., and that for the preceding year to 25,091l. 19s. 11½d., including 194l. 16s. 7d., recovered by the Colonial Agent in England. The revenue collected is consequently 1,474l. 16s. 8¾d. less than that for 1848. This decrease arises from the under-mentioned items, as shown by the comparative statement for 1848 and 1849, at pages 30 and 31 of the Blue Book, namely:-
