205. Kowloon Walled City-New Village Type houses and site formation: --Expenditure incurred in connection with the rehousing of a number of families from Kowloon Walled City.
Expenditure $10,831.31.
206. Demolition of Nos. 22-34 Catchick Street: -The work was commenced in January and completed in March. The contractors were Messrs. Lam Cheong Kee and a credit of $1,926.00 was received from them for the old materials.
207. Demolition of the Old Central Market:- The work was commenced on 14th September and completed on 16th November. The contractors were Messrs. Lai Kee & Co., and a credit of $32,500.00 was received from them for the old materials.
208. Demolition of the old Wanchai Market:--The work was commenced in April and completed in June. The contractors were Messrs. Ching Hing Construction Co. and a credit of $650.00 was received from them for the old materials.
209. Demolition of Queen's Gardens:-The work was commenced on 5th July and completed on 4th December. The contractors were Messrs. Yeung Fat & Co., and a credit of $1,650.00 was received from them for the old materials.
210. Waterworks; Extension to, and Augmentation of Supplies:-Work was confined mainly to surveys, preliminary works and calling for tenders through the Crown Agents. The subsequent works in 1938 will be dealt with under Loan Works— Appendix VI (c), Head 2-Waterworks.

211. Supply to Albany:-Tenders for the supply of pumps and power units were called for through the Crown Agents. These were still being considered at the end of the year. A schedule of materials to be tendered for for the pipe line was practically completed.

213. Cross Harbour Pipes:-(a) Materials: -Experiments were made at Messrs. Hume Pipe Company's works to obtain a suitable outside covering for protecting the steel pipe shells from corrosion. These indicated that satisfactory results were likely to be obtained from the use of a vibrated cement concrete
