Bridges Strengthening:-This Programme was started with the rebuilding of the small bridges at Tsing Lung Tau (No. 10), and Tai Lam Chung (No. 11) and the replacement of the defective bridge at Tsun Wan (No. 5) by a culvert. Work was commenced on 14th June, and was almost completed at the end of the year.
The construction of the new main bridge at Tai Lam Chung (No. 12) was commenced on 15th October and good progress made up to the end of the year.

191. MISCELLANEOUS.
Tsun Wan Market-Latrine:-A contract to erect a latrine to provide accommodation for sixteen males and eight females was let to Messrs. Sang Tai & Co. on 27th September and the work was satisfactorily completed on 29th December. A new manhole was constructed in cement concrete on the main sewer in the street to south-west of the new market and one sewer connection was made therefrom to serve the latrine.

Back Lane Service Pipes: The following works were carried out:-108 feet of 2" and seventy-six feet of 1" wrought iron piping were laid as a back lane service near Lot No. 1201 Taipo Market, forty feet of 11⁄2" wrought iron piping were laid in Yet Sun Street, four new services were connected to the back lane pipes in Taipo and Taipo Market, and one new service was connected to the back lane pipes in Un Long.
