PUBLIC WORKS EXTRAORDINARY.

The following is a summary of works carried out under this vote:

HONG KONG.

BUILDINGS.

109. Queen Mary Hospital:-This work was referred to in paragraph 118 of last year's Report.

Main Hospital Block-The building was officially opened on the 13th April by His Excellency the Governor, Sir Andrew Caldecott, K.C.M.G. Patients were received on 1st May.

Nursing Staff Quarters, Hospital Servants' Quarters and two Blocks of Flats for European Subordinate and Chinese Medical Officers--These buildings were referred to as completed in last year's Report and only the payment of retention monies was required to be made during the year.

A block of three flats for European Medical Officers-The work on this contract proceeded satisfactorily and was completed on 20th January.

The installation of electric lights, fans, power, motors, bells and telephones was completed. Wiring of electric circuit for loudspeakers throughout the corridors was installed. Four lifts in the Main Block and Sisters' Quarters were installed by The General Electric Co. of China Ltd.
