QUARANTINE.

10. The numbers of animals examined and passed through quarantine during the year were as follows:-

Horses 230 Cattle 180 Dogs 265

11. The above does not include animals imported for slaughter or consigned to the Military Authorities.

12. Imported horses and mules unless accompanied by a satisfactory "Mallein Certificate" are detained until they have passed the "Mallein Test".

13. Other animals are quarantined for varying periods according to their place of origin.

Two cases of Rabies occurred in the New Territories in the summer.

16. Twenty-nine animal brains were examined by the Government Bacteriologist for evidence of Rabies, with two positive results.
