QUARANTINE.
10. The numbers of animals examined and passed through quarantine during the year were as follows:-
Horses 230 Cattle 180 Dogs 26511. The above does not include animals imported for slaughter or consigned to the Military Authorities.
12. Imported horses and mules unless accompanied by a satisfactory "Mallein Certificate" are detained until they have passed the "Mallein Test".
13. Other animals are quarantined for varying periods according to their place of origin.

15. Rabies:-
During the year 301 dogs and 10 cats were placed under observation on account of being suspected of being rabid. They were disposed of as follows:-
Dogs. Cats. Returned to owner 239 7 Died 17 1 Destroyed 41 1 Sent to S.P.C.A. Dog's Home 1 Remaining under observation 4 2Two cases of Rabies occurred in the New Territories in the summer.
16. Twenty-nine animal brains were examined by the Government Bacteriologist for evidence of Rabies, with two positive results.
