120. Market—Wanchai:-This work was referred to in paragraph 104 of last year's Report. Work was held up in the early part of the year, pending the arrival from England of the steel framing. Grillage foundation steel arrived at the end of January, but the main framing did not arrive until the end of March and delivery was not completed until the beginning of May. The erection of the steel framing was completed by the end of June. Thereafter progress was good but not sufficient to make up for the initial delay. At the end of the year all brick and concrete work was completed, also all internal and external plaster work. All stalls were completed except for the terrazzo surfacing, which was well in hand. Installation of water and electric supply systems were well advanced. All drainage work was completed except for connection to sewers.
The installation of the inside service piping for the cold water supply was practically completed at the end of the year, and a connection made to the main in Queen's Road East.
