The total quantity of water pumped to the High Level Districts of the City was 251.88 million gallons, equivalent to an average daily consumption of about 690,000 gallons, whilst 72.01 million gallons were pumped to the Peak District giving an average daily consumption of 197,000 gallons.
The turbines and pumping plant at Bowen Road worked satisfactorily and delivered an average daily supply of 118,000 gallons to the 650 feet level Service Reservoir in the High Level Districts.
The new turbines and pumps at the Eastern Filters worked satisfactorily during the year, a daily average of about 76,000 gallons being delivered to the Jardine's Lookout and Middle Gap Service Reservoirs in the High Level Districts.
The new electrically driven pumps at Middle Gap worked satisfactorily between 9th April, when they were put into use, and up to the end of the year, a daily average of 26,000 gallons had been delivered to Mount Cameron Service Reservoir in the Peak District.
Tabulated statements
Statements containing particulars of the quantities of water pumped to the High Level Districts of the City and to the Peak District will be found in Table VII. All pumping units and station buildings have been kept in good order.
The average consumption of filtered water per head per day for all purposes throughout the year was about 28.1 gallons. In arriving at this figure the population has been estimated at 440,000. Full details of consumption, etc., will be found in Tables V and VI.
914 tap samples of filtered water on the island were examined by the Government Bacteriologist with the following results:
770 showed B.C.C. absent in 50 C.C.
111 others were above standard
33 were below standard

The analyses by the Government Analyst showed that the water was of good quality throughout the year. City supply was treated with 6.1 tons of liquid chlorine and one ton of chloride of lime during the year, which is equivalent to an average admixture of about 4 of a part per million.
The work of overhauling the valves on the mains in the city was continued, 185 being repaired on principal mains, and twenty-six on sub-mains.
