DRAWING OFFICE.

16. A staff of one Chief Draughtsmen and fifteen Chinese Draughtsmen was employed during the year, and 8,863 plans as detailed below were prepared in connection with twenty-one land sales, 891 leases and miscellaneous permits, exchanges, etc.

Beacons were inspected at the following stations and repairs executed where necessary:-Sha Tau Kok, Summit Hill, Partridge Hill, Kowloon City, Diamond Hill, Tate's Cairn, Kowloon Peak, Beacon Hill, Lai Chi Kok, Danger Flag Hill, Mission Hill, Tung Lung Island, Stanley, Castle Peak, Castle Peak North, Un Tau Shan, Lamti, Shek Po, Ping Shan, Ha Tsun. Castle Peak (1), Castle Peak Pier, Au Tau (Minor), Au Tau (Main), Kam Tin I, Kam Tin II, Reeds Cairn (Hill 1874), San Tin, Mai Po, Kam Tsin, Fanling, Sui Hang, Kwanti and Lo Wu.

19. The more important work under this heading included the following:-

1. Hong Kong Island. A contour survey of 173 acres at Mount Cameron (Scale 1:600', Vertical Interval 10 ft.) and a contour survey of 93 acres at Little Hong Kong (Scale 1:600', Vertical Interval 10 ft.) for land development. Both surveys were carried out by tacheometrical methods from traverses which have their origins in main or subsidiary traverses in the vicinity. The level values were obtained from known values of Bench Marks.
