158. Port Works:-Expenditure under this head was for borings taken at Hung Hom Pier and the erection of a temporary dust chute at Hung Hom.

159. Improving Waterloo Road from Disinfecting Station to Railway Bridge:-Cutting through the hillside, the formation of 30 foot width of roadway surfaced with 4" macadam tar painted and covered with chippings on the south-east side of Waterloo Road together with all necessary drainage were included in this work. The contract was awarded to Messrs. Foo Loong & Co. on February 23rd, 1934, and the work was satisfactorily completed by the end of July, 1934.

160. Exhumation of Chinese Cemeteries:-No exhumations were carried out.

161. Refuse Dump at Sung Wong Toi:-This work was referred to in paragraph 169 of last year's Report. A new contract was let to Messrs. Kin Yick Lung in March and satisfactory progress was maintained during the year.

162. Laying a telephone cable between Kowloon Railway Station and Water Police Station:-This work was put in hand and completed.

163. Back Lane Service Pipes:-Twenty-two new back lane service pipes were laid which involved the installation of forty feet of 4", 465 feet of 3", 4,713 feet of 2", and 795 feet of 11⁄2" wrought iron piping. 250 houses were connected to these and existing subsidiary mains during the year.
