152. Hung Hom Government Store:-A contract for this work was let to Messrs. Kin Lee & Co. for $12,400.00 on 20th March. Work was commenced on 21st March, and was completed in the extended Contract time on 10th July. The Store consists of a two-storied reinforced concrete framed structure supported on concrete piles, the ground floor of which is about six feet below ground level. The building is 75′ 0′′ long by 25′ 0′′ wide inside dimensions, the ground floor having a clear height of 10′ 5′′ whilst the first floor is 10′ 0′′ clear. The panels of the ground floor were filled in with a reinforced concrete slab 6" thick and steel framed windows whilst those of the 1st floor are of 9" brickwork in cement mortar and similar windows. The floors and roof were constructed of reinforced concrete of the beam and slab type, the main beams having a clear span of 25′ 0′′ at 15′ 0′′ centres and the subsidiary beams a span of 15′ 0′′ at 8′ 4′′ centres. 1:2:4 cement concrete was used throughout. The interior surfaces of the walls are whitewashed and the exterior is surfaced with a special sand finish.

153. Temporary Post Office Building at Kowloon Point:- The work consisted of the conversion of a building formerly occupied by Messrs. Alex. Ross & Co. as a garage and show room for use as a temporary Post Office, giving accommodation for twenty postmen in two dormitories, a mess room, kitchen, bath room and lavatories. The building also included a large Public Hall with fitted counters, an office for the officer in charge, a large sorting office, record rooms, stores and a garage. The work was commenced on the 2nd August and completed on the 1st November.
