99. Typhoon and Rainstorm Damages :-Taipo Road.- Wash-out to embankment at 52 mile, landslide to cutting at 6 mile, wash-out to section of main road at 6 mile, scour to catchwater and wash-out to channel at 12 mile and landslide to cutting at 12 mile.
Castle Peak Road.-Landslide to cutting on Tsun Wan Hill at 6 mile, damage to pitched slope, wing walls and apron of culvert at 13th mile, damage to pitched slope, wing walls, apron and decking of culvert at 14th mile, damage to abutment of single span bridge near 14th mile, fallen boulders and dangerous slope to cutting at 16th mile and damage to rubble pitching on causeway at 19th mile.
Castle Peak-Un Long Road.—Wash-out to invert of three span bridge on main road south of Un Long.
All landslides and damages caused were made good.
Several slips occurred on the embankment supporting the Shing Mun Conduit, and retaining walls were built to prevent collapse of the conduit. Shek Li Pui No. 2 Intake was filled up with silt and some damage caused to the intake dam. The silt was removed and the dam repaired. The Tsun Wan and Taipo Supply Intakes were blocked by silt during floods on several occasions. This silt was removed as quickly as possible and the supplies were interrupted for short periods only.

100. Maintenance of Village Supplies: (a) Tsun Wan.- The total quantity of water supplied during the year was 13.27 million gallons equivalent to an average daily consumption of 36,000 gallons.
Details are given in Table X.
There were eleven public stand pipes and eight fire hydrants in use at the close of the year.
(b) Fanling.—The total quantity of water supplied during the year was 8.56 million gallons compared with 8.84 million gallons last year, and equivalent to an average consumption of 23,000 gallons per day.
