211. Remand Home for Juvenile Offenders.-The work consisted of the adaptation of the old Belilios Reformatory as a Remand Home for Juvenile Offenders. Considerable alterations and additions to the buildings were necessary, the installation of a water carriage drainage system, complete electric light and bell installations, renovation of the buildings throughout, the erection of a reinforced concrete boundary wall all round the site to a height of 14'0" above yard level, and a new approach path and steps. The alterations, additions and renovation were done under the Maintenance of Buildings Contract, and the Contract for the erection of the boundary wall was let to Messrs. Kin Lee & Co. Work was commenced on 13th March, 1933, and was completed on 27th June, 1933.

Purchase of Sailors' Home and Seamen's Institute on M.L. 295, and adaptation as Offices.-This building was purchased by Government, and alterations were carried out to provide accommodation for certain offices formerly housed in Beaconsfield Arcade. The work consisted of the erection of partitions and minor alterations, and the building was occupied as follows:-Ground floor, Central Medical Office and Stores; 1st floor, Statistical Office of the Imports and Exports Department; 2nd floor, Port Development Office of the Public Works Department. The work was completed in May.
