113. Reinstatement of Government Walls.-Under this head the following works were carried out during the year:-Wall at Jardine's Corner, Walls at Tai Hang Road, Wall "E" adjoining I.L. 574 Caine Road, Wall behind Disinfecting Station, Caine Road, Wall at Ladder Street, Wall at D'Aguilar Street. The contract for rebuilding a portion of the wall at Jardine's Corner was let to Messrs. Sang Lee & Co. on 16th May for a sum of $4,277.50 and was completed on 15th September 1932. Two walls at Tai Hang Road were reconstructed by Messrs. Sang Lee & Co. under the Roads Maintenance Contract.

114. Tsat Tze Mui Quarry-Covering to Mixing plants, new high tension cable and a Transformer House.-A high tension cable was ordered on indent through the Crown Agents and is expected in the Colony early in 1933.

115. Chair Coolie Shelter at Barker Road. This work consisted of the erection of a room adjoining Barker Road Tram Station and was executed in reinforced concrete to match the existing station structure. The work was commenced in March and completed in May.

116. Fire Protection to G.C.H. "A", "B", and "C" Blocks. “A” Block—This work consisted of replacing the wooden staircase at the West end of "A" Block by a reinforced concrete stair, so designed as to facilitate the rapid evacuation of stretcher cases from the 2nd and 1st floors in the event of fire. The doors leading off the wooden staircase at the East end of the building were replaced in fireproof material. "B" Block—In this case an external reinforced concrete escape stair was constructed. "C" Block-In this case a badly designed granite staircase was replaced by one of reinforced concrete. The work was executed under the Contract for Maintenance of Buildings and was completed about the end of September.

117. Rewiring of Alarm Bells at Victoria Gaol.-Renewed alarm bell circuits. Total number of points-seven hundred.

118. Removal and re-erection of Fire Sub-Station at Wanchai. This work consisted of taking down the existing building and reconstructing it in a modified form on a site adjacent to the old No. 2 Police Station. Materials from the old building were used where practicable. The hose drying and drill tower was also transferred to another site. A Contract was let to Messrs. Sang Tai & Co. for $6,750.00 on 25th May and the work was satisfactorily completed in September.
