98. Maintenance of Water Works at Tai Po.-The total quantity of water supplied during the year was 23.40 million gallons compared with 18.49 last year, and equivalent to an average consumption of 64,000 gallons per day. Paragraph 193 of this Report deals with improvements to this water supply.

99. Water Account (Meters, Etc.).-Three new check meters were fixed at Fanling, one to measure the total supply to the Golf Club, whilst the other two, in parallel, record the total supply to the villages. There were 83 meters in use at the close of the year as follows:--

Taipo Fanling 61 (62 in 1931) 22 (18 in 1931)

Ten meters were examined and repaired during the year.

100. Maintenance of Praya Walls and Piers.-The piers were maintained in a satisfactory condition. Extensive repairs were carried out to the Castle Peak Pier by renewing the hardwood piles and decking in reinforced concrete. Minor repairs were also effected to the navigating dolphin erected at Deep Bay, Shum Chun River.
