87. Water Account (Meters, Etc.). There were 26 meters in use at the close of the year, this number being the same in 1931. The number of meters examined and repaired during the year was twenty-two.

88. Maintenance of Praya Walls and Piers. - The Praya Walls and Piers were maintained in a satisfactory condition. This necessitated repairs to the following works:- Kowloon City Pier; pitched slope at Lai Chi Kok Water Boat Dock; painting and repairs to Shamshuipo pier, and minor repairs to Shamshuipo Dust Boat Station.

90. Maintenance of Buildings. - Government buildings were kept in a good state of repair. Painting, colourwashing and repairs in accordance with the recurring programme were carried out to eighteen buildings. Major repairs included the following:- Tai Po Land Office - malthoid to roof, Sha Tau Kok Police Station - concrete path from Station to Military Hut and repairs to surface channels, etc., Au Tau Police Station - extensive repairs to joinery, etc., Tai Po Police Station - extensive white ant damage, Tai Po Police Bungalow - extensive white ant damage, Sai Kung Police Station - extensive white ant damage.

The principal improvements carried out under this head were as follows:- Tai Po Police Station - alterations to kitchen and amahs room, new coal store, Tai Po Clerks Quarters - new concrete sunshades, Tsun Wan Police Station - new windows in Chinese constables Quarters, Sheung Shui Police Station - alterations to Chinese kitchen and cookhouse, Ping Shan Police Station - railings to Indians Quarters, Tai O Police Station - new kitchen, Un Loong Dispensary - various alterations.
