Only minor repairs or alterations were necessary to the works during the year.
The total consumption of filtered water for the year was 45.92 million gallons which includes 3.10 million gallons supplied to the boat population, equivalent to an average of 126,000 gallons per day. An unfiltered supply of 2.66 million gallons was given to the barracks at Sai Wan, which along with the amount of filtered supply stated above made a total of 48.58 million gallons or 133,000 gallons per day. The details of the consumption are given in Table VIII.
53. Aberdeen.--From 7th May to 14th June and from 7th November to 31st December the hours of supply were restricted as follows on account of the water shortage:-7th May to 10th May, 14 hours (6 A.M.-8 P.M.) 11th May to 26th May, 7 hours (6-10 A.M. and 4-7 P.M.) 27th May to 11th June, 2 hours (7-8.30 A.M. and 4.30-6 P.M.) through metered services and 11 hours supply (7 A.M.-6 P.M.) through street fountains. 11th June to 14th June, 4 hours (5-7 A.M. and 2.30-4.30 P.M.) through metered services, and 12 hours supply (6.30 A.M.— 6.30 P.M.) through street fountains. 7th November to 31st December, 10 hours (6-11 A.M. and 4-9 P.M.) For the remainder of the year a constant supply was given. The distribution main in the main street was found to be in bad condition and was relaid for a length of 1080 feet with 4″ diameter C.I. pipes. The submarine pipe to Ap Lei Chau continued to give trouble and it is proposed to relay it in 1933.
The total consumption of filtered water was 28.41 million gallons including 4.56 million gallons supplied through the water boat station and 3.78 million gallons supplied through the 2" main to Ap Lei Chau. The average consumption for the year was 78,000 gallons per day. The details of the consumption are given in Table VIII.
54. Repulse Bay. From 7th May to 14th June and from 7th November to 31st December the hours of supply were restricted as follows on account of water shortage:-7th May to 10th May, 14 hours (6 A.M.-8 P.M.) 11th May to 26th May. 7 hours (6-10 A.M. and 4-7 P.M.) 27th May to 11th June, 3 hours (7-8.30 A.M. and 4.30-6 P.M.) 12th June to 14th June, 4 hours (5-7 A.M. and 2.30-4.30 P.M.) 7th November to 31st December, 10 hours (6-11 A.M. and 4-9 P.M.). A constant supply was given during the rest of the year.
The 3" main along the Beach Road was found to be in bad condition and was relaid with 3" wrought iron piping for a length of 1,200 feet. The source of supply was augmented during the year by laying 2" diameter wrought iron piping to a new intake on a stream north of Wong Nei Chong Reservoir. The total quantity of water supplied during the year was 12.84 million gallons, equivalent to an average consumption of 35,000 gallons per day,
