319. Various surveys for preparation of plans for the Police Department in connection with criminal charges and enquiries were made. The chief one was a survey of about seven acres between Sha Tin and Tai Po at the scene of the Kowloon Canton Railway train disaster.

320. Levelling.-In Hong Kong the following Fundamental Bench Marks were fixed: -

Belcher Street at junction of Sassoon & Victoria Roads, West Basin of Aberdeen Dock, North Point and junction of Johnston & Wan Chai Roads.

The double levelling, to which reference was made in the last report, between "Rifleman's" Copper Bolt in the Naval Yard and the Fundamental Bench Mark at Ah Kung Ngam was twice relevelled. Double levelling was also carried out from the Tide Gauge at Kennedy Town along Victoria Road to Aberdeen, then to Deep Water Bay, Repulse Bay Road, Tai Hang Road to Bench Mark on the French Convent at Causeway Bay.

A circuit of double levelling was also carried out at Wong Nei Chong.

In the New Territories double levelling was carried out from the Fundamental Bench Mark at Fanling Station along the Sha Tau Kok Road to Sha Tau Kok and all mile-stones were valued en-route. Two Fundamental Bench Marks were also fixed and valued - one at Loi Tung and the other at Sha Tau Kok (No. 3 Anglo Chinese Boundary Stone).

Double levelling was also carried out from Fanling Cross Roads (M.S. 6) to Sheung Shui and thence to M.S. 34 on the Fanling-Castle Peak Road. One staple Bench Mark was fixed and valued on Sheung Shui Police Station.

Various mile-stones which had become displaced were refixed and new level values obtained.

One staple bench mark was fixed and valued at Austin Road in place of the bench mark demolished on Chater Bungalow site.

321. Boundary Stones.-Stones were fixed to define the boundaries of 122 lots in Hong Kong and 278 lots in Kowloon and New Kowloon and to ten lots in the New Territories.

322. New Territories.

Sap Pat Heung Villages.-The surveys for sixteen villages were completed and plotted on the Survey Sheets of the Colony.
