The heating of the Public Rooms, Bedrooms, Drying Rooms and Corridors is by wall pattern Radiators fixed in convenient positions, while the hot water supply for the Bath Rooms is obtained from secondary Cylinders with internal radiators fixed in suitable positions for distribution.
A complete flow and return system of piping is provided from the boilers to the radiators and cylinders with the necessary valves for easy control.
A Contract was let to Messrs. Dodwell & Co. for the installation of the Hot Water System.
The work being commenced in July and completed in October.
One hundred and fifty-seven fan and light points and 30 bell points were rewired. Twenty-seven new heating points were installed.
Sup. Vote, $18,350.00 Expenditure, $17,148.19202. Sub-Fire Station, Wanchai.-This work consisted of the formation of a new Courtyard with concrete surfacing and enclosing it with a boundary fence. The existing hose drying and drill tower was moved and re-erected in the new courtyard and a small petrol store erected.
The work was commenced in October and completed by the end of the year.
Sup. Vote, $3,000.00 Expenditure, $2,941.27203. Government Offices-Additional Storey. This work consisted of adding a storey to the old Government Offices in order to provide additional accommodation for the Colonial Secretariat. In order effectually to carry out the work it was necessary to provide temporary accommodation for the Colonial Secretariat and this was done by renting the 3rd floor of the Banque de L'Indo-Chine in Queen's Road and subdividing the floor into offices by the erection of plaster partitions etc.
Seventy-two fan and light points, twelve heating points and fifteen bell points were installed.
To support the new storey over the old C.S.O. building considerable amount of rebuilding of existing piers and erection of reinforced concrete columns was effected.
