Q 119

A survey of Kowloon Bay Reclamation was carried out and a contour plan prepared shewing this and the villages up to the foot hills on a scale of 32 inches to a mile. Area surveyed being 183 acres.

A survey was commenced and is now nearing completion of the Country Club Reserve at Shek O. The field work completed is about 200 acres, the main traverse totalling about 28,000 feet and subsidiary traverses of about 10,200 feet. This survey also entailed the detail of the coast line of about 9,500 feet.

A survey was commenced of Stanley Village and the cultivated area on Stanley Peninsula. A traverse of 9,090 feet has been run from Stanley Gap to the trig station near the village and the detail of the roads and most of the village has been completed.

The latter two mentioned surveys will be included in the Ordnance Survey of the Island of Hong Kong.

Boundaries of 146 lots were defined on the ground for building areas and boundary stones were fixed to 212 lots. Fifty-six picket boxes were fixed in roads for marking permanent traverse points. The boundaries of numerous lots were defined for the Drainage, General Works and Roads Offices and other purposes. One hundred and thirty-four frontage lines to streets were checked. Numerous lots were roughly delineated for the purpose of ascertaining if they had been formed to the required levels. Permanent marks at the intersections of streets and proposed streets were fixed in the District between Hung Hom and Prince Edward Road and a plan prepared shewing the setting out (this work is not yet completed and that done requires checking). Further setting out of lots and streets was carried out on the Praya East Reclamation.

Many surveys of a miscellaneous character were carried out viz. plans required to be attached to deeds of surrender, sale plans, plans for the police in connection with criminal charges etc. and various plans for departmental use.

8. Cemeteries:-The boundaries were defined on the ground by concrete posts of the following Cemeteries:

Mount Caroline (I.L.393), Parsee (I.L.364), Chinese Christian (I.L.899), Kai Lung Wan West (I.L.952), Kai Lung Wan East (I.L.1776) & Inland Lot 1707.

9. Ordnance Survey:-

City of Victoria.-Revision work only has been carried out, 17.68 acres being surveyed and plotted with a chainage of 3.6 miles.
