164. Compensation and Resumptions.-This vote provided for the resumption of properties required for street widening and improvement schemes, and in connection with the development of the district in accordance with the approved Town Planning Scheme.
The resumptions debited to this vote are referred to in the schedule at page 22 of this Report. In addition the payments made by the Government in connection with the conversions and exchanges referred to at page 8 were also debited to this vote.

165. Further Reclamation at Sham Shui Po.-This work was referred to in Annexe L at page 167 of last year's Report.
The work under the Contract was finished in July, 1926, and maintained in a satisfactory condition during the period of maintenance.
Owing to the occupation of the area of reclamation by the Military Authorities, the work of constructing the sea-wall, which is considered necessary to protect the filling material, could not be proceeded with, the lack of which protection resulted in the washing off during the rainy season of a quantity of the filling approximating 2,000 cubic yards which caused the existing rubble mound to be covered with a considerable thickness of silt at the end of the year.
The expenditure incurred last year was on account of retention money.
