18. The shafts on both sides of Beacon Hill Tunnel were found hollowed out on the top. They were filled in, and turfed and channels constructed around them.
Attempts were made to lessen the water leakage inside the tunnel.
19. By the extension of the Platform Awnings, Kowloon, the two starting signals for trains leaving Nos. 3 and 4 Platforms were obscured from the concourse. Two auxiliary miniature signal arms were placed on each side of the awning to remedy this.
20. Portions of the stone pitching on South Abutment of Bridge No. 10 bulged out from the original slope. About 2,500 square feet of this pitching was taken down and re-laid.
21. The South East Abutment Wing Wall of Bridge No. 6 was found to be cracked and had to be dismantled. The embankment had to be carefully shored up whilst the Wall was being rebuilt.
22. The painting of Bridge No. 49 was completed without trouble. This work was held up in 1925 owing to interference by Strike Pickets. Small repairs were carried out to the abutments of Bridges Nos. 25 and 33.
23. Repairs were effected to the bracing of Bridge No. 37. The rivets had become slack and these had to be cut out and replaced by bolts.
24. A portion of the stone pitching at Gills Cutting was dismantled and re-laid as the old backing was found to have sunk.
25. The lime plaster surfacing on the slope of No. 1 Cutting, near Bridge No. 3, requiring attention, was repaired in a similar manner to that done previously and satisfactorily withstood the subsequent heavy rains.
26. 28 No. 85-lb rails and 12 No. 67-lb Russian Rails were laid in track as renewals.
27. The complete stock of Russian Rails was overhauled, scaled, oiled and transferred to Blackheads under cover.
28. All 85-lb rails were also overhauled and oiled.
29. All fish plates in main line were reversed and oiled.
30. 2,800 Hardwood sleepers, 270 Concrete sleepers, 15 Bridge Timbers and 127 Crossing Timbers were laid in track as renewals.
