WORKS AND CHARGES DEFRAYED FROM FUNDS NOT PROVIDED UNDER P.W.E. VOTES

204. Furniture for Government Offices and Quarters.-This was referred to in paragraph 252 of last year's Report.

During the year two part sets of Senior Officers Furniture and 10 sets for Subordinate Officers were supplied. 75 single articles were made for various Departments. A number of single articles were also supplied where necessary to Officers' quarters.

In addition, the Government purchased, at an agreed valuation, a quantity of furniture from outgoing private tenants of Queen's Gardens Flats.

Numerous repairs were effected, for the proper maintenance of existing supplies.

$25,000.00 23,462.62

205. Bathing Facilities.-These were provided at Kennedy Town, North Point and Stonecutters Island as in former years, but with reduced accommodation. The attendance for the season was good.

At Repulse Bay, three rafts were provided together with a staff of two boatmen and two beach attendants.

The cost including watchmens' caretakers and shroffs' wages etc. was defrayed from Miscellaneous Services, Bathing Places, etc. and amounted to $9,046.74.

206. Upkeep of Government Garages:-

Waichai P.W.D. Garage.-The yard was surfaced with 4′′ macadam and tar painted. The outside lighting was improved and fans were installed in the Garage.

Stubbs Road Garage.-The heating apparatus was hauled and put in good order.

All Government Garages were maintained in a good state of repair.
