-The sewers.
99. Maintenance of Sewers, Nullahs &c.-The stormwater drains, trained nullahs and concrete channels were cleansed, repaired, and maintained in good condition.
Repairs were effected to channels on Crown Land in the vicinity of the Railway Station at Taipo.
The details of expenditure under this heading were as follows:

100. Maintenance of Chinese Cemeteries.-No work was carried out under this heading during the year.
1926 Estimates, $100. 1926 Expenditure, Nil.101. Typhoon and Rainstorm Damages. Considerable damage was done by the rainstorms and typhoons of July and September to Gap Rock Lighthouse and Ping Shan Police Station whilst the majority of the other buildings suffered minor damage.
Numerous landslips occurred on the coastal road blocking it for a few days.
The heavy rains of April, July and September caused considerable damage to the macadamized and decomposed granite road surfacing and to walling and embankments.
Damage was done to the Fanling-Sha Tau Kok Road, to the irrigation dam at Cheuk Yuen and to the bridges at Wan Yiu and Lam Tsung.
Repairs to the 39 inch nullah behind the P.W.D. bungalow at Taipo were carried out.
Several miles of aerial telephone route were blown down during the typhoons in July and September in consequence of which communication between Kowloon and Lantau Island district was interrupted for several days.
