The quantity of water supplied by meters was as follows:--

Trade, 489.06 million gallons. Domestic, City, 371.38 Domestic, Hill District, 66.95 Unfiltered, 40.83 TOTAL, 968.22

These figures show a decrease of 14.19 million gallons in the quantity supplied by meters as compared with 1925.

New services were constructed or old ones altered, improved, repaired, or connected to the mains to the number of 2,878 and 62 supplies were laid on for building purposes.

The number of inspections of private services carried out was 15,212. Defective services were found in 492 cases all of which were put in proper repair after the usual notices had been served.

67. Maintenance of Waterworks, Shaukiwan.-A constant supply of water by fountains was maintained throughout the year, this being possible owing to a temporary connection being made to the City Mains. The total quantity of water drawn from the City Mains amounted to 0.89 million gallons.

The total consumption for the year amounted to 60.46 million gallons which includes 2.38 million gallons supplied to the Barracks at Saiwan and 3.30 million gallons to the boat population, or an average of about 166,000 gallons per day.

Details of the consumption are given in Annexe F.

There were 54 meters in use at the close of the year.

68. Maintenance of Waterworks, Aberdeen.-A satisfactory supply of water was maintained throughout the year, the total consumption being 30.36 million gallons including 4.42 million gallons supplied through the waterboat station, as compared with a total consumption of 29.67 million gallons and a waterboat supply of 4.69 million gallons during 1925. The average consumption throughout the year amounted to 83,000 gallons per day.

Details of the consumption are given in Annexe G.

There were 13 meters in use at the close of the year.

69. Maintenance of Waterworks, Repulse Bay.-The total quantity of water supplied during the year amounted to 8.10 million gallons or an average consumption of 22,000 gallons per day.
