222. Extension to Kowloon Catchwater. This work was referred to in paragraph 212 of last year's Report.
The works were practically completed during the year, only a little clearing up being required in 1926 to complete the Contract.
A large landslide occurred on July 1st below the Statue Rock, which carried away about 220 lin. feet of new catchwater. The work of removal of the earth and reinstatement of the invert and sides was practically completed by the end of the year.
The extra length of catchwater brought into use was about 5,450 feet and was effective in adding a further 151 acres to the drainage area of the Kowloon Reservoir.
The total length of the extension to the catchwater is 10,753 feet and the total additional drainage area 871 acres.
The total length of widening of the existing Catchwater is 533 feet.

223. Shek Lai Pui Reservoir & Contingent Works.-This work was referred to in paragraph 214 of last year's Report.
Owing to the disturbed labour conditions, progress was fair, and by the end of the year only a few minor works such as turfing and general tidying up remained to be completed.
The Reservoir has a capacity of 100.70 million gallons between the overflow level (645.00 A.O.D.) and the lowest point of draw-off (610.00 A.O.D.), but, in addition, a quantity of 15.30 million gallons is contained below 610.00 O.D., which can only be utilized through the washout pipe in case of extreme necessity. The top water area is 15 acres.
The catchment area is relatively small and comprises 78 acres direct and 66 acres indirect, of which a diversion of 441 acres has been made from the existing Kowloon Reservoir Catchment Area.
