These launches are in good running order, except No. 4 which is nearly worn out, and is to be replaced in 1926. Five launches Nos. 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 have been kept on harbour beats during the year. They have been overhauled and are in a satisfactory condition except No. 8 which will not be able to be used much longer. No. 14 has been used as a stand-by launch, and for special emergency calls.
A new Cruising launch was laid down at Messrs W.S. Bailey & Co's Yard and will be ready about March 1926. She will replace No. 4 Launch.
Motor Boats Nos. 10, 11 and 12 have all been overhauled every three months and are in good running order.
Searchlights on Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 14 Launches are in good working order.
All pulling boats and gear are in good order and condition.
The usual Rifle and Vickers gun practices have been carried out by Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 launches.
A special staff was employed through the year in carrying out searches under the Piracy Prevention Ordinance.
The full Launch Service was maintained throughout the period of the Strike and Boycott. The total desertions from the Chinese Staff were 14.
