To combat mosquito breeding, a considerable amount of trenching was carried out in Kowloon, South of Boundary Street between the Railway and Kowloon City.

(a). Matauchung District, stormwater drainage. This work, referred to in paragraph 175 (a) of last year's Report, was not proceeded with during the year; there was consequently no expenditure under this heading.
(b). Main sewer from Fuk Tsun-heung to Kau Lung Tong, East of the Railway-This work was commenced.
(c). Kau Lung Tong Old Village Area, Main storm-water drain to Mong Kok Tsui Nullah.—This work was not proceeded with during the year; there was consequently no expenditure incurred.
(d). Waterloo Road Extension, storm-water drainage.—This work was not proceeded with during the year; no expenditure was in consequence incurred.
(e). General Works.-Owing to unsatisfactory tenders, most of the 6" and 9" Sewers, etc., were laid departmentally, the larger works being let by contract. The following are the most
